Baby Jake's birth

Here’s how things played out on Friday evening.

Friday at 3:00 I started having contractions. They started to increase in strength and didn’t appear to be stopping. My day nurse put in the call to have me monitored. By 8:00 I was having pretty good contractions, but baby Jake wasn’t doing to good with them. His heart tones dropped down to 65 which frightened the L & D nurses.

We were whisked away to the L & D floor where I was told that they’d already called my OB and he was on his way over to do the surgery. I called my hubby and he headed out for the 30 minute drive from the house. They started me on magnesium because my blood pressure was like 190/115. It was bad!

We were prepped and by 10:00 we were wheeled into the OR. It took the Anesthesia tech 3 tried to get the spinal placed 😦 hated that!!!! Once we were set, it was pretty quick there after.

Jacob Ambrose was born at 10:36 PM weighing 6lbs 14oz and 20″ long. He had the umbilical cord wrapped loosely around his neck 3 times. 😦

I spent the night in a nice suite in Labor and Delivery before they moved me back over to my other room. That was due to the Mag that they gave me. I was moved over at midnight on the 26th (or I guess that’s the 27th) and I soooooooo looked forward to taking a shower the next day!

Jake and I were discharged on the 28th and it was so nice being home finally in almost 3 weeks. 🙂

So, I woke up this morning around 2:00 with my hands tingling and a slight headache. Fell back to sleep and woke up at 6:00 to get the kids ready for school when I noticed my hands were swollen. Went into the bathroom to get ready and I noticed my face was swollen too. : /

I got the kids off to school and took James and Joshua to my friend (James was still recovering from Strep) and called my OB. He asked me to come into the office at 8:45. I trekked in and got started on blood pressure readings. Not good. Top it off with spilling 2+ protein in my urine now, whereas yesterday I was fine 😦

My OB sent me off to labor and delivery for a 24 hour observation and urine catch. So here I am up on the L & D floor, stuck here until 1:00 tomorrow at least.

The census right  now is depending on my 24 hour urine catch results and lab redraws, my options are:

  1. Stay here a few more days for observation
  2. Go home to bed rest
  3. Have baby Jake tomorrow or Wednesday

What sucks is being here, not at home. 😦 Thank God my parents are able to come up and take my kids to school and the sitter tomorrow!!!  Guess well know more tomorrow, but I DISLIKE waiting and not knowing 😦

Drum roll please…

I took it easy for the past day and a half, headed in this morning for my 9:00 follow up at the Doctor’s office and. . .

127/84!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!

Not only that, but my blood test results came back with AWESOME numbers! Liver enzymes are well within normal range, no protein in my urine!! AND I lost 2lbs of water weight!

So, my OB said that whatever it was that I had been doing to continue. 🙂 Yay me! So, now I go back on Monday for my next weekly and I hope and pray that everything will be normal again!

33 week check up

Had my 33 week check up today. Dr. still says my due date is the 18th which puts me at 33 weeks officially tomorrow.

Blood pressure was excellent today!!! Super stoked about that. My “sample” was good. Nothing spilling over and liver check looks good. No sugars either which is good!

Weight was up about 4 lbs though from last week 😦 I’m incredibly swollen. In fact, my daughter was amusing herself last night by pressing her hand into my lower legs and watching it make an imprint as if you were sinking your hand in plaster or concrete. Stayed for quite a while. Dr. said that I’m definitely swollen and that the weight gain is water retention for sure. Sigh

Basically I go weekly until I either go into labor, hit my scheduled c-section date or something goes wonky with my blood pressure, liver levels or I spill protein in my urine.

In 2 weeks I get an ultrasound to determine baby’s position and approximate size. Starting to get anxious!!!! I can’t wait to see who he looks like, will he have any hair, how big will he really be?

I really dislike waiting… But I understand that it’s not quite time yet. Sigh

My view

My daily view

Decided to show you what my daily view has been consisting of lately.  Did I mention to you that Jake is HUGE?

This is me sitting down in a chair on the patio.  I had to slightly lean back in my chair in order to get the full girth of Jake.

Tomorrow is my 31 week appointment, and I am so looking forward to hearing how big he is again.  Guess I need to remember to ask my OB if it’s okay to travel within a 125 miles as we’re getting that much closer to buying a… minivan.
